 Ms. Kendall is currently Director of the Health Sciences Library at Mount Sinai Hospital in Toronto, Ontario. She received her Masters degree in Library Science from the University of Toronto. Since then she has worked in corporate, public and not-for-profit libraries and has extensive business experience. She has presented at major library conferences including Internet Librarian and the Medical Libraries Association, and has published in major Canadian journals.

Onya is an important part of Sandra’s animal family at home.  When visiting Ethiopia Sandra includes a visit to the donkey sanctuary near Addis Ababa. 

 

Carla Hagstrom 

Carla is a librarian at the Gerstein Science Information Centre, University of Toronto. She has experience in reference work and health informatics, providing sessions for  students and faculty on how to use various databases such as Medline, CINAHL, EMBASE, Scopus, Web of Knowledge, etc., as well as one-on-one consultations for researchers.   She has taught informatics for several different disciplines, including social work, physical education, medicine, occupational therapy, physical therapy, and speech language pathology.  Carla specializes in literature searching for systematic reviews and the use of bibliographic management tools such as RefWorks and Wizfolio.

Mary McDiarmid

Mary McDiarmid is the librarian at Ontario Shores Centre for Mental Health Sciences in Whitby. Mary’s career has been focused in health sciences libraries. Mary serves as a volunteer on the Ontario Health Libraries Association Executive as the continuing education coordinator. Mary is an early adopter and is always eager to try new technologies and new ways of working.


Bailey Urso

 

Bailey Urso

Bailey Urso holds a Masters of Library and Information Science degree from Western University, and a Bachelor of Arts in Archaeology from Wilfrid Laurier University. Bailey volunteers on the executive of the Ontario Health Libraries Association, and has donated her personal time to be able to participate in the TAAAC project. Outside the library world, Bailey is a yoga instructor and a knitting/sewing/crafting enthusiast.

 

Gail

 Gail Nichol

Gail is a librarian at the Gerstein Science Information Centre at the University of Toronto.  Gail is a subject specialist in pharmacy, pharmacology, nutritional science and toxicology. She is the author of several  UTL Libguides in Medicine and Medical Education.

 

Christopher Walsh

Christopher is an Information Specialist at the Health Sciences Library at Mount Sinai Hospital and Professor at George Brown College, in the Faculties of Communications and Health Sciences, both in Toronto, Ontario.  He holds a Master of Information from the University of Toronto, an MA from McMaster University, and a BA from the University of British Columbia.

 

 RRobynobyn Butcher

Robyn is a librarian in the Department of Family & Community Medicine at the University of Toronto. She is the    author of the LibGuides “Global Health in Family & Community Medicine” and “Physician Assistants –      Resource Guide”.

Past Team Support 

 

Carmen Garcia

Carmen is a Library Technician in the Health Sciences Library at Mount Sinai Hospital, Toronto, Ontario. She holds a BA in Education from the National Teachers’ College in Manila, Philipines. Carmen provides administrative support to the TAAAC Library Program and ensures that all books donated to TAAAC for the Black Lion Hospital are entered into the University of  Toronto catalogue.


Roger 

 Roger Pielechaty

Roger is a Library Technician in the Health Sciences Library at Mount Sinai Hospital, Toronto, Ontario. He has assisted with shipments of books and other material to the Black Lion Hospital since 2008 when Sandra first travelled to Addis Ababa. He holds an LIT diploma from Sheridan College, Oakville, Ontario.

 

Vicky Lynham

Vicky is an information specialist in the Health Sciences Library at Mount Sinai Hospital, Toronto, Ontario. She has fourteen years medical library experience providing document delivery, database instruction and literature searches to staff and students. She provides administrative support to the TAAAC Library Science Program and maintains the Ptolemy Library Resources web site. She is a graduate of the Sheridan College LIT program.
